Why I Love Scam Newton, Mavs Need More Threes!

It wouldn’t be fantasy football for me without Cam Newton on my roster. I’ve always been made fun of for how I build my roster in fantasy football. I either have the all star team from 5 years ago or a roster full of Patrick Beverlys.

For some reason Cam has always been a go-to for me. It started when I was a senior in high school. I was glued to the TV every Saturday to watch this ‘Cam Newton’ play at Auburn.

Whether it was trampling Tennessee, Arkansas, and Georgia or leading one of the greatest 21 point comebacks of all time against the Crimson Tide - Cam Newton was one of the best college players on the planet.

Fast forward to his time in the NFL and it was always a show. 11 seasons with the Carolina Panthers, over 32,000 passing yards, 194 touchdowns, 3 pro bowls, and a fumble or two away from winning a super bowl.

Cam showed he could play at all levels of football, even winning a championship at Blinn.

Today’s version of Cam may be my favorite. I’m a huge fan of his podcast, the cigars, and I can’t get the video of him eating chocolate chip cookies with the barstool guys out of my head.

Most recently, the video of him getting jumped at a 7 on 7 tournament surfaced onto the internet. Of course, everyone went crazy and much to my surprise, the majority of media and people took his side.

Today, I watched the video of him reacting too and taking ownership for what happened. He put the blame on himself, ball in his court, and reminded us all how things could of been much worse. He took ownership of his part in it all and stated it should have never gotten that far.

Look, the dude is a stud. One of the best college players of all time, created and performed some of the best touchdown celebrations ever (the superman shirt tear and ‘the dab’), and now is a great podcaster/former athlete giving back to the game of football.

I hate when people say this but let’s give this man his flowers.

I’ve always been a fan of Scam Newton, have never cared about allegations, and can’t wait to see where his media career goes.

I don’t know if they do fantasy football in the podcast world but if I had QB slot - he’d be my guy!

Mavs, Celtics:

On another note, the Mavs lost pretty bad last night. I didn’t get to watch the full game but re-watched the 1st quarter this AM. I was curious how they came out the gates.

I don’t love their starting five. I like Luka, Kyrie, and Lively. I’m not huge on Green and I’m still not sold on the PJ Washington trade. I would of rather traded back for Dorian Finney Smith. I think we need a better shooter in the starting 5 to be great.

I love the Gafford pick up and when he subs in the game. I think we’re solid at the Center position with Lively/Gafford and if we have to go three deep, Powell can play with Luka.

Its a make and miss league, Dallas shot 26.5% from the field last night from 3. Its hard to do that and win in today’s NBA. Chalk it up, call it good and let’s move forward, but I’m afraid we may need more 3 point shooting to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Lakers, Nuggets tonight.
