LeBron 40k, Joaquin Wins, Kat Williams

Today is a brain dump day for me. In prep for the Ben & Case show, I’m running through the things on my mind.

LeBron officially has over 40k points in the NBA. I watched the Lakers, Nuggets last night just long enough to see the King get his 40k. Some of the stat lines flying around sound crazy and they are. You’d have to average 24.4 pts./game, 82 games a year, for 20 seasons to do that. All things the King has done and more but insane when you put it into perspective. The man is a legend and we still get to watch him play.

Tuning into the LIV tournament highlights, Joaquin Niemann won his second event of the year. The 25 year old from Chile has won 2/3 LIV events and has quite the resume. Winning the Genesis Invitational in 2022, becoming the #1 amateur in the world in 2017/2018, and now what he’s doing on LIV tour. I’m excited to see where things with this kid go. It’s fun to have another big name. Maybe he’ll win a major this year.

Speaking of big names, all the hoopla this week was Anthony Kim. I couldn’t remember him much but tuning into his YouTube highlights from 2006-2012 I began to recall some. It seemed like he was sort of exiled by the tour at the time due to his arrogance, swag, and approach to the game. All things that would make him popular in today’s golf with social media and the like. The man was ahead of his time.

Cam Newton posted a video on his popular podcast, 4th and 1, to discuss the events of the scrum he got in. Much to my surprise, the sports media world took Cam’s side, and Cam took ownership for it all. Said he has to be better. I like that guy.

NFL combine aired yesterday. Back when I was in middle school/high school I used to be glued to the TV during the combine. It doesn’t draw as much attention from me today but it was fun to tune in for a bit. The story of the day was Xavier Worthy posting a 4.22 in the 40 yard dash. Looking ahead to the draft I’m most exited to see how Caleb Williams fares in the league, what an offense can do with Brock Bowers, and if Marvin Harrison Jr. can live up to the hype from his pops.

March madness is around the corner and I’m most excited for the NCAA Women’s portion. The only real name I know on the men’s side is Bronny James and I’m not sure they’ll be in the tournament. When it comes to the women’s side we have LSU running it back with the addition of Hailey Van Lith, Juju on that beat carrying USC, Paige Bueckers leading UConn, and my favorite womens basketball player of all time since Sue Bird - Caitlin Clark.

The women’s tourney is going to excite and I’m hoping all of the teams noted above make it to at least the Elite 8. Looking forward to some good TV.

I spent Thursday night listening to Kat Williams on Joe Rogan’s show. It was very different than I expected. I assumed it was going be an encore of Club Shay Shay or maybe Kat would clear the air on his comments about Joe and his cronies. Instead, it was 3 hours of some pretty deep topics of who we are as people, where we came from, what’s all out there in space and the importance of information. Kat is an interesting dude. Definitely worth the listen, pimpin.

I’m thinking about starting to watch hockey. I’d like to be able to talk about it but I’m not sure it’s worth the effort. It’s somewhat like soccer. I try to get into it and it’s just not for me.

NBA, NFL, Golf, and college football/basketball. That’s the deal for now.

Enough brainstorming for today. Until next time.
