The Oscars, Baker Mayfield, NBA Playoffs

The Oscars is an interesting mix of people. Take the most talented kids from theatre, give them some fame, and put them all in the same room.

Recently, I’ve grown more fond of several things. Film and music are at the top of the list. How brilliant do you have to be to think through a script, visualize the shots, characters, and dialogue to create a great film? How detailed do you have to be to piece together beautiful music, communicate a concept, in a way that people want to listen?

Art is a beautiful thing. It's the way in which we, humans, communicate how we feel, think - dream.

I’ve never been a huge fan of The Oscars and that’s no dig at anyone, I’ve just never had a huge interest. Now more than ever I’m interested in the awards, what the people have to say when they win, reactions when they lose, and how I could get on that stage. What role would I play?

Film is becoming an interest of mine, maybe one day I’ll dabble in that direction. It feels like a whole other life, but maybe it's just another decade.

I’m proud to see Baker re-sign. I’ve always had a soft spot for the guy. Maybe it’s because he is from Austin. I don’t know. I think it was a well deserved contract. He may end up leading the Bucs to a Super Bowl. He’ll be throwing to one of the best Aggies to ever do it, Mike Evans.

I’m thinking about picking an NFL team to root for. I’ve always sort of been a Cowboys fan just because they were the team nearby, but I’ve also never been sold on them. I had a thing for the Broncos when I was young because of John Elway, and it picked back up a bit when Peyton played there for a few years, but I’ve never been a die hard fan of any team.

I’d like to find a team with an organization I like. The way they handle players, business, and think long and short term. A team that will be good to mimic when I own an NBA franchise. That will be my team moving forward for the next 5-10 years. I’ll choose one this week.

NFL free agency is overwhelming. There are so many people moving around, positions, and folks to remember. NBA free agency is easier to digest. I can remember most of the players on most teams, at least the top 9-10 on each roster.

NBA Playoffs are around the corner. Things are starting to heat up. I’m tuned into the standings each day. Who is going to make it into the final six teams? Who is going to make it into the play-in? What will the matchups be?

All fun stuff and lining up to be a great playoffs. This is the most competitive and wide open the league has been in awhile.

Life is beautiful for me today. I’m thankful for all it has given me. Short and sweet for this one.

Until next time.
