Cleveland…Contenders or Curse?

Cleveland…this is for you! I have the Cavs picked as one of my top 2 teams coming out of the East. The 18-2 run had me hype but the 0-2 start after the break has me worried. Only a little bit. Today, my deep dive back into the Cavs, other games in the association, and why I’m becoming a golf fan.

Cavs vs. 76ers:

I was excited to tune in and watch the Cavs last night. A few months back I did a deep dive into the team but Mobley and Garland were still missing. As I sat down with my popcorn last night, I discovered Spida was out. So, here we ago, another deep dive with a key player missing. You can’t win em all.

A few things I loved. The rotations were beautiful. It seemed like at all times there was a competitive roster on the floor. This team is easily 10 deep. You’ve got the bigs in Mobley, Allen, shooters in Strus, Niang, Merrill, and D-Wade and ball handlers in Caris, Garland, and generally Spida. The newest takeaway for me last night was Isaac Okoro. 4th season guy from Auburn, averages 9 pts./game and is a great spark off the bench. I loved his energy when he was on the floor.

The only bummer to last night was Spida being hurt. Cavs lost the game (104-97) and at times looked lost offensively. They needed their closer and main offensive threat. Not to hate on Darius Garland, he’s a great player, but he was giving backup quarterback vibes. He can score 20 a game but needs Spida and is going to have to find that dog in him if they’re going to make a run.

Side note from the 76ers. It was great to see them get a win. It’s been a tough stretch with no Embiid. And yes they need Embiid to be competitive. Maxey isn’t talented enough to carry that team alone. I also love the addition of Cam Payne. Even though it was sad to see Pat Bev get traded, again, the add of Cam is great. I feel like he’s always been underrated. The man had 16 pts. in 20 minutes off the bench last night.

Other Games:

I tuned in to watch the Pelicans a bit. I don’t know if it was the color of their jerseys or the fact that they were down by 20 to the Heat, but I wasn’t into it. Bucks beat the Wolves in the game of the night. Warriors and Hornets almost got into a fight. Lakers beat the Spurs. The Clippers beat the Grizz in Memphis on probably the coolest looking court in the NBA. Solid Friday night in the association.

Golf:

Golf has always been somewhat boring to me to watch. It was something I did on Sunday afternoon when nothing else was on. Lay on the couch and watch the final round of whatever PGA tournament was on. However, the last few years it has picked up for me. I started playing a little more (handicap 20), watching a little more, and then this LIV vs. PGA thing started. Looking at it purely from a gaming standpoint I’m interested to see where things go. I’ll be tracking the 14 LIV events this year and tuning into the PGA events worthwhile. Stay tuned ‘fore’ more.

That’s all for now folks. Have a nice Saturday.
